Villa I Sassi will enchant you as soon as you arrive at the property. The house is built in stone in the original style of the Orcia Valley. A famous landscape gardener took care of the garden now boasting oak trees, almonds, plum trees, all loosely surrounding the house. Moreover there are many different species of Mediterranean plants filling the air with their scent. Once there was a vineyard from which an excellent wine was produced thanks to the stony soil. In the 70's the production was discontinued and now the vineyard has been replaced by fields of wheat, sunflowers, and rapeseed.
In the past Villa I Sassi was a farmers home with the ground floor occupied by a cows' barn and the family living on first floor. This was a traditional sharecropping system which ended in the 1960's and many farmhouses, during the years, have been transformed into holiday villas.
