Mount Argentario is well known for being a beautiful natural reserve, for having long and sandy beaches and for its famous fashionable towns (Porto Santo Stefano, facing north and Porto Ercole, facing South). Nearby there is the Cala Galera harbour where big yachts are anchored. Mount Argentario is a peninsula close to Grosseto and it's connected to mainland by three dams, forming two lagoons, Laguna di Ponente and Laguna di Levante. The most famous beach is La Feniglia, 6-8 km long, the sea is warm and crystalline and the typical Mediterannean vegetation is found here. Another remarkable beach is Giannella, with fine sand and shallow water. Guests staying at Le Piccola Giara can enjoy a small pebble beach beneath the house. Orbetello is the biggest town near La Piccola Giara.
La Piccola Giara is located in a not yet properly discovered Tuscan beauty: Maremma. The Southernmost land of Tuscany is plenty of history and coastline offers beaches and towns even for the most demanding tourists. The Maremma is scattered with important historic sights. At a short drive from the coast other magnificient attractions can be reached: the towns of PItigliano and Sovana, the Saturnia natural springs (where it's possible to spend a day at the Spa built by the thermal pool).
A do not miss drive is the panoramic road (Strada Panoramica) starting from Porto Santo Stefano and allowing spectacular views of the Tuscany Archipelago.
