Built on a hilltop and dominating the surrounding area, Palazzo Cledy is a an impressive construction whose first origins date back to Etruscan times. First documents tell us that in the 10th century Ugo, King of Italy, gave this land to Abelardo III, bishop of Volterra. Through the Centuries the place belonged to different families until the beginning of 16th century when it became the abode of a noble family called Cortesi.
At the end of 17th century there were still traces of old castle walls and an underground road heading to San Gimignano.
Now Monti, this is the name of the location, is a peaceful hamlet for up to 12 guests, featuring 6 bedrooms, all with air conditioning, screens, en-suite bathrooms. The owners, who live in a small house opposite the courtyard, are at their clients disposal for any help needed.
